Sat. 1/25

This Saturday is looking pretty nice compared to the last few we have had, but it still won’t crack freezing until about 10:30. So, we will roll from St. Elmo Food City at 10:30 for a 42-mile ride through North Georgia. Post ride lunch at Tap House. There is no planned store stop, but there are options along the way.

New Year’s Day 2025

Bubba will celebrate the new year with a ride featuring Atena Mountain Road (paved but still a pig trail) out of Whiteside, TN. Robert’s Mill has become too busy to take a big group up, but feel free to celebrate our old tradition on your own. Roll at 9:00 from St. Elmo Food City. The route goes: over the toe, out Creek Rd, over Morganville Ridge, down Murphy Hollow, up and down Atena Mtn Rd, and back via 299 and Old Wauhatchie. 38 miles and 2,900 ft. No planned store stop, but there are several stores on the route. The route is fully road bikeable, but use caution on the Atena Mtn descent.

Next week will be the Christmas Chimney Ride from Rock City Starbucks.

Sat 11/16 Semi-Gravel

Following an awesome ride through Little River Canyon last week, Buba will try something different and adventurous this week. Start from the former Anchor Inn in Haletown for a rough road/gravel adventure. Although the vast majority of this route is “paved,” a gravel bike or at least a robust set of wheels and tires is recommended. Head south to Stevenson, Alabama, climb Orme Mountain, drop back into South Pittsburg, and head back via Kimbal and Jasper. Store stop at mile 47.8 in South Pittsburg.
