Elites will roll from Unum at 8:30 with TB but in the opposite direction. We’ll be doing the traditional 3S3M Metric route but Elite style which means it’s only 55 miles by leaving out the Shellmound loop. We will add the Nature Center climb on the way back. Might be a good day for the UJ after the ride. See TB post regarding Holiday ride on Monday.
Saturday 5/19/18
To the Cove and Back. The General’s in charge Saturday and he’d like to ride to the Cove. Roll from St. Elmo Food City at 8:00 am. Pretty standard route that includes the 2 nice detours on the way to the cove and back via Hog Jowl. 65 miles.
Saturday 5/12/18
Elites will roll from Falling Water at 8:30 for a redo of a ride that was abruptly altered due to high winds. Head north to the Foot Washing Church on to the Ball Fields and out Back Valley where we’ll climb Leggett. Regroup at the “wishbone” and will return via Hell of the North route. Bring plenty of fluids and snacks as there’s not a lot of store options on this route. Winds predicted to be light and variable at 3-5 mph, 57 miles and 3,500 ft. of climbing.
Saturday 6/30
Heat will be suffocating tomorrow so TB will get an early climb and then look for shade. Roll at 8:30 from Unum. Toe, Elder (with loop up top), Cummings, Murphy, then wind around to Creek Rd. (Check the map – we’ve only done this a time or two.) 60 miles, 4000 feet. Lunch at UJ.

Saturday 4/28/18
The General will be leading the Elites this Saturday. He’ll have the route loaded in his Garmin so pay attention (A-Ron that means look at the map before the ride. Roll from Unum at 8:30 for a ride over the toe, out Browns Ferry Rd to the end and loop back on O’Grady Dr. Up Elder Mtn Rd, around the reservoir and descend to the power plant. From their out via Stair Steps and return via 299, and oh yeh, up Lookout part way at the end (just look at the map). Have fun. 58 miles and 4,400 ft.
Saturday 4/28
Bub One Bluegrass Ride! See Elite post.
Saturday 4/21/18
Elites will roll from Unum at 8:30. Cruise over the Toe, out Creek Rd and up Lookout via Hwy 136. We’ll visit the Humping Dog and then over to the store on top of the mountain around mile 35 as we’ll return via Hinkle Rd which turns into Lulu Lake, descend Nick-a-Jack, and back on Burnt Mill Rd so we can wave at Bub One again. 61 miles and 3,600 ft. of climbing. Lunch at UJ for those that can make it. If Monster show up we’ll probably tweak the route just so we can hear him complain…
Saturday 4/14/18
Here we go again. Based on most recent info from BeABubba.com official weather app Dark Sky, Elites will roll the dice and plan a ride. Roll from Unum at 8:30 and head south fighting the wind for the first 30 miles. We’ll wave at Bub One as we pass his house and make our way over to Marble Top. Take the 2 alternate loops on Cove Rd. and then cut over to Hog Jowl via Captain Wood Rd. Basically a straight shot from their to Chickamauga, Battlefield and back through Alton Park. Close to 62 miles. Download the map if you’re not familiar with the area. As always keep an eye on the website for updates.
Sat 4/21
Jacket wants a pre-Hincapie look at Sequatchie Mtn and seein’ as how he can’t remember his home phone number when he gets in trouble we figure we shouldn’t leave him alone. Roll at 8:30 from the old Tiftonia BiLo (corner of Cummings and Browns Ferry). (No reps from me about where you should park – I believe there’s an old school or something down Kelly Ferry that may be an option. The old BiLo lot may also be an option although the shops folks there may complain.) Out Cummings, down the stairs, East Valley to Valley View, and up Sequatchie Mtn. A metric and 4500 feet with lots of ways to short it. (Those numbers are deceiving: this one will hurt.) Count on one refueling stop at the Bait Shop (probably on the way back.)
