TB 5/6 – BeezleBub Bluegrass!

It’s time for the BeezleBub Bluegrass Bubba Bash, and BeezleBub has selected the Little River Canyon route which is a Bubba favorite.   Roll @ 9:00 from the Cove.  70 miles, 5000 feet.   You can cut off the climb up Daughtery by starting at John Carroll’s on top.  Here’s the map:  ridewithgps.com/routes/42663216

BeezleBub will check the weather Sat morning and send out an email if there is a change in takeoff time.

TB Tuesday 5/2

Early Birds get out of sequence this week and do the Hillz again.    (15 mph wind with 35 mph gusts out of the north tomorrow, and the Hillz will help us hide!)   Roll from Whole Foods at 4:00.

“Regular” Tuesday ride rolls at 5:30 as always.  See Other Rides below,

TB 4/29

Some folks are out of town this Saturday and lots of others are tapering for Sunday’s Cornbread Festival.  (No, no, not tapering for the ride – Bubbas are tapering for what really matters: the cornbread eating contest!)   Bubbas able to ride Saturday will roll at 8:30 from the St Elmo Food City aka Steady’s Campground for a trip south on this BeezleBub/Flymanator-led ride.   Some familiar roads and some not so familiar, so look at/download the map especially you $00 since you’d get lost in the Food City parking lot!   A metric and 3600 feet.   Lots of ways to short it for those with less time or who want to stretch their legs but not go too deep so as to be worn out for cornbread eating Sunday.

TB Tuesday 4/25

Early Bubba Special rolls from Whole Foods at 4:00 for the Hillz.    Some folks are starting earlier and will see the 4:00 starters on the ridge.

5:30 group rolls from Red Bank – see Other Rides

TB 4/22

Roll from the St Elmo Food City @ 9:00 (giving the roads a little more time to dry because we’ll be getting to it early).   Up Nickajack (ouch).  Regroup at the church, spin the 1 mile climb from there keeping the group together, and then the heads go down to 136.   Humping dog loop clockwise letting the strong, smooth fellers do the work pulling us as it’s a bad idea to attack on this stretch with all the hills and turns – I promise you’ll get plenty of exercise.   Back across the top and down 136 to refuel at the store at the bottom where decisions must be made.   Head back the normal Marble Top/Dry Valley route for 59 miles and 4000 feet, or head down 193 on the Ironman course (for those wanting a look) to Cove Road through Chickamauga for 66 miles and 3900 feet.  There will be a bit of a headwind either way but hopefully staying on the east side of Lookout will tap it back a little.  Here are the maps:

TB Tuesday 4/18

Early Bubba Special rolls @ 4:00 from old BiLo in Red Bank (corner of Browntown and Dayton Blvd) for the “regular” Tuesday loop up Hotwater.   See map in Other Rides section.

Normal Tuesday ride leaves at 5:30 as always.

TB 4/15

Roll from Red Bank Elementary at 8:30 – it’s just past the foot of the W on the right going down Mountain Creek Road.   (Folks at the Aldi center aren’t big on Bubba taking up parking spots and we don’t want to wear out our welcome at the old Pizza Hut lot.)   We’ll warm up with a SPIN up the W.   As always we’ll stagger groups of 5 or so going up to hold down Facebook complaints, and if you want an even gentler spin up help us break up the group by heading straight up the W out of the school instead of doing the short 2-mile segment down Runyon on the map.   REMEMBER TO REGROUP AT THE TOP OF THE “Ws” on East Brow (don’t go all the way to Taft), and we’ll then head down the Marshall Creek Gorge, off the back of Signal (ouch), up Henson Gap (another ouch), the 10-longest miles across Mowbry (yep, you’re getting the “ouch” idea), down Montlake and back.   60 miles, 5000 feet, but it’ll feel like much, much more.

TB Tuesday 4/11

Early Bubba Special rolls @ 4:00 from Whole Foods for the Hillz.   Back to the Bend for some loops around 5:30 for anyone who wants to jump on.   After-party at Whole Foods.

“Regular” Tuesday ride rolls from old BiLo in Red Bank at 5:30 as always – see Other Rides section below.

UPDATE:   Well, I suspect at this point even the Easter bunny dislikes that dad-burn groundhog!   NO RIDE TODAY.

Happy Easter Bubbas!
